With the upcoming grand opening of the new Old Navy retail store in Turlock, many community members have been anxiously awaiting for the budget family clothes store to open their doors. The Grand Opening Weekend is set for Friday, September 21st through Sunday, September 23rd.
The new Old Navy is filling in the empty building in the Monte Vista Crossings shopping center, which was once the Borders Bookstore before they shut their doors to the public in 2011. The announcement of an Old Navy store opening in Turlock came in February of this year.
With more than 4,000 “Likes” on the Turlock Old Navy facebook page, the store expects to be packed full with excited shoppers during their grand opening weekend. The nearest Old Navy store is located in Manteca, and many local residents have expressed that they are happy they will no longer have to make the drive out there to find great deals on clothing.
“So happy I don’t have to drive to Manteca anymore,” exclaimed Patterson resident Emily Petersen on facebook. “Love, love old navy!!”
Turlock resident Valeria Lara commented, “Finally we get an old navy here in Turlock :)) Love this store, cute clothes for the kids.”
Although precise details regarding the store’s Grand Opening Weekend plans are uncertain, the store has posted requests for Local Bands to play at their Grand Opening on Friday, September 21st, from 6pm – 8pm, as well as a post seeking out the best local pizza for the event.
With over 1,300 applications, the opening of the new store has provided many local residents new job opportunities. Many of the new hires are Turlock High, Pitman High, and CSU Stanislaus graduates.
