The Turlock Historical Society is inviting the public to its September program on Tuesday, September 18th, at 7pm in the Berg Hall at Covenant Village, located at 2125 N. Olive Avenue. The program will focus on the local Portuguese heritage.
Special guest, Mary Lima, will provide an interesting presentation on the Portuguese Pentecost Association of Turlock; its 100 year history, the recent events commemorating the anniversary, and the published book about the history of the Association.
While many of us watch the parades and celebrations and are aware of the Association, we may not know its history, the focus of the organization, or the Association’s influence on life in Turlock and its contributions to the community.
Mary Lima will share information about the Association’s founders and the colorful history of the organization.
Copies of the book, published for the anniversary celebration, will be available for purchase following the presentation.
The Turlock Historical Society program is free to the general public and light refreshments will be served.
If you have questions, contact the Turlock Historical Society Museum at 6-MUSEUM(668-7386). The Museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-3pm and Saturdays, from 1pm-4pm.
