Dr. Fariba Amani is the newest member of the cardiology department at Emanuel Medical Center after joining Emanuel Specialty Care – Cardiovascular Medicine this summer.
Dr. Amani specializes in cardiac electrophysiology, which focuses on diagnosis and treating the arrhythmias of the heart with medications or an ablation procedure, as well as the implantation of pacemakers and automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
“The cardiology group and all the physicians at Emanuel are dedicated, excellent physicians, focused on high-quality care in the way they manage their patients,” Dr. Amani said. “I felt that this position would be a perfect fit for me. I’ve been to a lot of places in the United States and there is a need for the specialty of electrophysiology in this community.”
Dr. Amani immigrated to the United States from Iran nine years ago. She completed medical school and a residency program in cardiovascular disease at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. After arriving in the United States with her husband, Dr. Amani completed her internship and residency program in internal medicine at the University of Arkansas, Medical Sciences; and then completed a cardiology fellowship at the same program. She then completed a two year fellowship program in electrophysiology; the first year at the University of Arkansas and second year at Penn State Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
“I was drawn to Turlock because of the resemblance to my home country and the large Farsi-speaking population,” she said. Dr. Amani and her husband, an information technology manager, are self-described outdoor people who love to hike and backpack and plan to enjoy the natural, scenic beauty of California.
Dr. Amani’s office is located in the Tower Health and Wellness Center at 1801 Colorado Avenue, Suite 250 in Turlock. She can be reached at (209) 250-5300.
