Two Turlock City Council candidates have risen to the top through the election process. After a long election season that consisted of campaigning, public forums, and anticipation, the unofficial results of the 2012 General Election have been released to the public.
According to the Stanislaus County Clerk Records, as of 1:50am this morning with 100 percent of precincts counted, the two Turlock City Council candidates with the highest amount of votes for the Turlock City Council were incumbent Councilwoman Amy Bublak and Council Candidate Steven Nascimento.

“A huge thank you to all of my supporters,” exclaimed Council Elect Amy Bublak. “I look forward to continuing my work for the people and City of Turlock.”
Bublak joined Incumben U.S Congressman Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) and California State Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto) at the Fat Cat Music House and Lounge in Modesto where they held a public celebration party. As of early this morning with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Denham with 80,885 votes (53.8%) and Olsen with 66,978 votes (61.4%) were winning their races.
“It is important to support those who can help Turlock in the future,” stated Bublak.
Nascimento spent the evening celebrating with close friends and family members at his home in Turlock. After receiving voting result updates, Nascimento was very appreciative of the support and opportunity to serve his community.
“I am honored to serve my community on the Turlock City council, and would like to thank all of my supporters for their unwavering support,” stated Nascimento.
“I’d also like to thank all of my friends and family who sacrificed countless weekends to help me walk Turlock neighborhoods and spread the word about my campaign. And last but not least, I’d like to thank my wife, who has been my lost ardent supporter throughout this campaign. I could not have been successful without her love and support.”
Candidate Sergio Alvarado spent the early evening watching the election results at a downtown bar with friends, and offered the best of luck to whoever turned out to be the winner before the results came out later that evening.
Incumbent Councilwoman Mary Jackson, who was elected to the Turlock City Council in 2008, stated that she would not be holding a party as she did in the 2008 election, but would rather be spending the evening with her children.
“I am so utterly pleased how positive this election season was compared to four years ago,” stated Jackson. “It really went well.”
After Council Elect Steven Nascimento expressed his gratitude for the support he has received, he also was looking toward fulfilling his duty of serving the community and that all Turlockers must work to together to better Turock.
“We face some serious challenges as a community, but as a community, we are in this together, and only together will we succeed,” stated Nascimento. “We must come together to celebrate our strengths and overcome our weaknesses. I sincerely look forward to working with Turlock residents to better our City.”
