Turlock Police Investigation Still Looking for Person of Interest in Lander Collision That Killed Delhi Teenager

Surveillance video still shot of the person of interest Turlock Police are still looking for.Turlock Police are still looking for the driver who fled the scene of a collision that killed an 18 year old female passenger. Police are reaching out to the public in hopes of locating the suspected driver by releasing photographs from surveillance video.

The incident occurred when Turlock Police saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on S. Golden State Boulevard on Saturday morning at approximately 3:25am. Officers began looking for the vehicle and found it in the 1200 block of Lander Avenue crashed into a house.

According to Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb, further investigation revealed the vehicle first struck a tree and then collided with the house. While the house was damaged, there was no penetration. There were no injuries to the residents in the house.

An 18 year old passenger, Taylor Vessel of Delhi, was partially ejected from the vehicle. Despite bystanders and medics attempts to revive her, she was pronounced deceased at Emanuel Medical Center.

Witnesses in the area saw the driver flee from the scene and detectives are searching for the suspect.

There was video surveillance from a nearby business that captured the suspect on video.

Police have now released photographs from the surveillance video and are asking for the public’s help in finding the man police are calling a “person of interest.”

The investigation has revealed that the car was not stolen; however the owner is not cooperating with the investigation. The owner, shown in the surveillance video photographs, is not cooperating with police. The vehicle was identified as a silver Chevrolet Malibu.

Turlock police are actively investigating this incident and ask anyone with any information to contact Officer Joe Dusel at 634-7380.
