On November 3rd, an 18 year old passenger, Taylor Vessel of Delhi, died from partially being ejected from a vehicle that crashed into a house in the 1200 block of Lander Avenue in Turlock. The suspected drive fled the scene and police have been searching for the unidentified suspect. The Turlock Police Department has now identified Jose Jesus Aguilar, 19 of Delhi, as the suspect in a fatal hit and run that occurred on Lander Avenue.
The incident occurred when Turlock Police saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on S. Golden State Boulevard on Saturday morning at approximately 3:25am. Officers began looking for the vehicle and found it in the 1200 block of Lander Avenue crashed into a house.
According to Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb, further investigation revealed the vehicle spun, first striking a tree, and then colliding with the house. While the house was damaged, there was no penetration. There were no injuries to the residents in the house.
Aguilar was driving the vehicle when he lost control turning onto Lander Avenue. Aguilar fled the vehicle on foot and was not located. The 18 year old passenger, Taylor Vessel, was partially ejected. Despite bystanders and medics attempts to revive her, she died within minutes and was pronounced deceased at Emanuel Medical Center.
Witnesses saw the driver flee from the scene and video surveillance form a nearby business captured the suspect on video.
As Police searched for the unidentified suspect during the initial investigation, Police reached out to the public in hopes of locating the suspected driver by releasing photographs from surveillance video.
The investigation later revealed that the car was not stolen; however the owner did not cooperate with the investigation. The vehicle was identified as a silver Chevrolet Malibu.
Jose Jesus Aguilar’s whereabouts are unknown at this time and Turlock Police continue to search for him.
Aguilar is described as a Hispanic male adult, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 180 pounds. He has long black hair, usually braided in a pony-tail. He has four dots tattooed under his left eye and one dot under his right eye.
