Turlock Rural Fire District needs to purchase lifesaving equipment and is holding an annual crab feed to help with the fundraising efforts.
The Turlock Rural Fire Department (TRFD) and Kiwanis Club of Turlock have partnered with the Friends of the Stanislaus County Fair Foundation for their 6th Annual All You Can Eat Shrimp and Crab Feed fundraiser on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 6pm.
“The proceeds from this event will be used to buy life saving fire equipment in order to better serve Turlock residents,” said Chris Borovansky, Chief Executive Officer for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The proceeds will also provide the youth in our community with funds to continue to do service projects.”
This event will be held in Building E-2 at the fairgrounds. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, a Turlock Party and Wedding DJ and a traditional raffle with wonderful prizes generously donated from local and regional businesses, including two grand prizes.
Tickets are $45 and may be purchased prior to the event by calling Engineer Ruben Wegner of TRFD at 209-986-0833 or stopping by the Stanislaus County Fair office on 900 N. Broadway in Turlock.
Turlock Rural Fire District has been serving the residents in the outlying regions of Turlock since 1958. There are about 25 members, all of which are volunteers. Their Fire Association sponsors three families each year during the holidays with food and gifts.
The Kiwanis Club of Turlock Foundation was established in 1958. It currently has 23 adult members and many more junior high and high school Key Club members. They donate three $1,000 scholarships to students at three local high schools, as well as donating handmade afghans to nursing home residents in the winter.
The Friends of the Fair Foundation serves as a non-profit organization in which it assists in funding The Stanislaus County Fair.
