South Avenue Shooter Identified and Arrested for Murder by Turlock Police

Turlock Police Department responded to calls regarding shots fired in the 800 block of South Avenue, in Turlock, on December 29th, 2012, at approximately 9:15am. When officers arrived on scene, 35-year old David Hernandez was found with gunshot wounds. After being transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, Hernandez did not survive.

The shooter was identified as 20-year-old Ernesto Negrete, of Turlock. Negrete was contacted during a traffic stop in the 1200 block of North Olive, where he was arrested for Murder and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Turlock Police Department is still actively investigating the case, which is believed to be gang related. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Turlock Police Department Detective Navarro at 668-5550 extension 6619.
