U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) will hold two local “listening sessions” with his constituents, soliciting opinions on immigration reform, jobs, taxes, and educational policies.
“As your Congressman, I’d like to hear from you about the critical issues facing our country and our community,” said Denham. “From creating fair and respectful immigration policies, to helping to create good paying jobs, and improving our children's schools, we have a lot of work to do, and the answers are going to come from people like you – not the bureaucrats in Washington.”
The nearest listening session will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 2 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1200 Maze Blvd., Modesto.
Immigration reform will be the main topic for that session, with U.S. Rep Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina) in attendance. Gowdy chairs the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security.
A second listening session will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. April 3 at The Place of Refuge, 486 Button Ave., Manteca. Gowdy will not attend the Manteca session.
