For those who have questions about cancer, Emanuel Medical Cancer Center will hold a special evening presentation called “Baffled by Cancer?” on April 23, featuring expert speakers on the subject.

“Cancer is a complicated, confusing disease that takes many forms and has many treatments,” said Michael Iltis, Executive Director of Emanuel Cancer Center. “Everyone reads or hears some information about cancer, but most of the time people don’t know if that’s the latest information or if it applies to them. This program will be presented by the oncologists at Emanuel Cancer Center and will be the most up-to-date information available.”

The presentation will discuss topics such as the twelve most common types of cancer, diagnosis and management of cancer, theories on what causes cancer, and facts about cancer prevention.

The panel of experts includes Dr. Mohamed Eldaly, Dr. Lucio M. Nobile and Nurse Practitioner Michelle Di Giovanni from Emanuel Specialty Care – Medical Oncology and Dr. Quoc Luu and Dr. Gauravjit Singh from the Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center.

“These expert speakers will use a series of slides to highlight facts about cancer, as well as explain treatments, provide updates on the latest research and answer questions from the audience,” said Iltis. “It will be an enlightening evening that will take some of the mystery – and fear – out of cancer.”

The presentation is free and open to the public, and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on April 23 at the Emanuel Cancer Center, located at 880 E. Tuolumne Rd. in Turlock.

To register for the event, call (209) 664-2434 or register online at www.emanuelmedicalcenter.org/cancer.
