A high-speed police chase took place in Turlock on Monday morning, after an adult male driver sped away from a Turlock Police Officer during a regular traffic stop.
At approximately 11 a.m., a regular traffic stop was made in the 1100 block of East Olive Avenue in Turlock. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped off and pursuit entailed.
“Due to the erratic driving and in the interest of public safety, the pursuit was canceled,” said Sgt. Stephen Webb of the Turlock Police Department. No one was injured during the pursuit.
The vehicle was later found, however, parked on Potomac Avenue in Turlock. The driver of the vehicle, Leonardo Lopez, 32 of Turlock, was identified and found walking in the area.
Lopez was arrested on charges of fleeing from a police officer and driving on a suspended license.
