As the 2013 Turlock Relay for Life approaches in May, teams across the community are working to raise funds for the American Cancer Society event.
This Saturday, team members of the “Committing for a Cure” team are holding a fundraiser at the Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Turlock.
The fundraiser will feature a car show, multiple craft and food vendors, and a “Bark for Life” dog walk where pet owners will be able to show off their pet dogs and receive awards and prizes. Throughout the day a local Merced Party & Wedding DJ Service
“We’ll have about three different categories for the dog walk,” said Jeanna Pritt, one of the organizers and team members. “There will be an award for smallest dog, one for biggest dog, and another for a pet owner and dog look-alike contest.”
Awards and prizes will also be given out during the car show. To enter a dog, a car, or a vendor booth, there is a $20 fee. The event is free for spectators.
Proceeds of the event will go towards the Turlock Relay for Life that will be held on May 18 and 19, which benefits the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life fundraiser will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20 at the Light of Christ Lutheran Church, located at 4510 Crowell Rd. in Turlock. The Light of Christ Lutheran Church will also have a guided labyrinth walk at 2 p.m., following the event.
