Sharon Howze, wife of former Turlock City Councilman Ted Howze, passed away on Saturday shortly after she collapsed near the end of an organized run.

Ted Howze and his family asked for prayer in a Facebook post announcing the tragedy.

“Dear Friends,” the Facebook post reads.

“It is with a broken heart that I let you know that Sharon Howze passed away on Saturday afternoon June 8th at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. She collapsed near the end of a organized five mile run and never regained consciousness before passing away peacefully with her entire family by her side. I cannot describe the tragic hole left in our family at this moment from losing a beloved mother and wife of nearly 20 years. Please say a prayer for our family tonight.

“Ted, Trey, Trenton & Tynan Howze”

Sharon Howze was very involved in the community, and served as a track coach at Denair schools. Her passing has already drawn support for her family as they deal with the tragic loss.

A Walk In Remembrance of Sharon Howze, organized by Treadwell Photography, will take place tonight.

The walk's Facebook page, “Treadwell Photography: Walk In Remembrance Of Sharon Howze For The Howze Family (TONIGHT),” states:

“For all who are friends, family, and part of the community. Please join us in a walk to remember Sharon Howze, a loving mother, wife, and beautiful person inside and out. If you would like to do something to show your support to the Howze family, you are welcome to bring your condolences through cards, flowers, food, or simply your presence to 2931 Gail Ave in Turlock. We will be walking from this location to the Howze residence and leaving them with the family. Please be at our residence no later than 8pm tonight as we will be leaving at 8:10 pm SHARP! It is a mile and a half walk to our destination. Please share this post with friends and family. If you have any questions please call Paige Shipman at 2093458455. We love and miss you Mrs. Howze.”

“For many people it’s difficult not knowing how to help or what to say. Tonight we can all come together to support this family who has supported so many others in the Turlock/Denair communities,” states the Shipman family.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

I’m so very sorry to hear this and send my condolences to the Howze family; I pray God will comfort them during this time… ~ As a side note to others please remember that heat exhaustion is dangerous! Avoid being outside during the hot times of the day; if you must be outside drink a lot of water & cover your head. Try to cool your core temperature by getting into a cool pool or water or hose yourself down if you are working outside for long periods of time…

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Sharon. She was a bright light and gave so much to her students, including my own daughter, Hope, and a blind student we shared. May God bless her family with comfort and precious memories.

I read some where once and I believe it to be true: “There are some bring a light so great that even after they have gone, the light remains.”
So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know she is loved.

Saddened at the news about Sharon, my heart and prayers go out to the Howze family. I just met her this last spring as she coached my grand daughter in track at the Denair middle School. She was an inspiration for Piper and all the other young people. May God give you His strength and comfort during this time . We all share in such a great loss.
