Instead of picking up a deep-fried Twinkie or a funnel cake at the Stanislaus County Fair this year, guests will be able to choose from healthier options.
For the first time ever, the 2013 Stanislaus County Fair will feature a farmers market, bringing fresh and organic flavors and produce to the table.
Attendees will be able to sample and purchase fresh organic produce, warm roasted almonds, hand-cut toffee, freshly cut fruit and other delicious healthy food options as the Stanislaus County Fair and the Turlock Farmers Market partner for the fair’s 10-day run.
The Turlock Farmers Market currently runs in Downtown Turlock every Friday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the Stanislaus County Fair, the farmers market will also be open at the fairgrounds from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Local farmers who are interested in participating are asked to call Kim Williams at (209) 668-1333.
The 2013 Stanislaus County Fair will open for a 10-day run starting July 12. To learn more about the Stanislaus County Fair, visit www.stancofair.com.
