An SUV crashed through a Turlock building Friday afternoon, after the driver lost control and swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle.

According to the Turlock Police Department, the GMC Yukon, driven by a 29-year-old male, was traveling north on Soderquist Road at high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

To avoid hitting a car stopped at the upcoming stop sign, the driver swerved across Fulkerth Avenue, driving through a fence and hitting a tree. After hitting a tree, the Yukon continued to drive through a nearby building.

Sgt. Stephen Webb of the Turlock Police Department said that it is unknown whether the building was vacant, but reported that there were no injuries to any pedestrians.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The Turlock Police Department says that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the collision.
