A task force entrusted with Turlock's economic future is still in search of applicants.
Applications for the Mayor's Economic Development Task Force will be accepted until Aug. 16.
The task force, approved by the Turlock City Council on July 23, will be comprised of 15 to 20 members, representing all walks of life and all parts of Turlock. Those task force members will be asked to update Turlock's economic development strategic plan, a document that has gone untouched since 2003.
The advisory task force will review all current Turlock economic development programs and draft new ones, providing quarterly updates to the city council. Task force members will also reach out to the public, ensuring all voices are heard.
The application form asks interested Turlockers about their property ownership, knowledge of current economic development programs, the challenges facing Turlock, and relevant experience.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 16 to the City Clerk's Office, 156 S. Broadway, Suite 230. Each councilmember will appoint one member on Aug. 27, with Mayor John Lazar to appoint the remaining members.
The task force will meet monthly from September until September 2014, finishing its work no later than Dec. 31, 2014.
