This past weekend featured its usual batch of crimes involving Turlockers doing foolish things.

The oddities kicked off just after 9 a.m. Saturday, when a 25-year old man, Ignacio Anaya, was apprehended after stealing a riding lawn mower. He ditched the mower and fled the scene on foot. Several residents called the police, who subsequently took Anaya into custody after finding him as he was trying to hide behind bushes near a fence line. He was arrested for burglary and probation violation at the 4100 block of Tegner Road.

Just three hours later at 12 noon, at the corner of Geer Road and 20th Century Boulevard, Carlos Loera, 68, was arrested for public intoxication after he fell off his bicycle and was found lying on the sidewalk.

The oddities continued just after 2 p.m. in the 2800 block of Alta Vista Street, when 47-year-old Danny Williams was nabbed by police for stealing a water hose from a residence. When he was searched police also found a stolen drivers license in his possession. He was arrested for possession of stolen property and petty theft.

Just after 9 p.m. Caleb Maldonado, 22, evidently just couldn’t bring himself to wake up after an early evening nap in his car. The only problem- he was in the middle of the roadway at El Capitan and Edward drives. Police found him passed out in his vehicle and he was arrested for drunk driving.

I am so glad that I moved my family out of Delhi years ago. That area has turned into a shithole.
