Turlockers who have a hankering for an ice-cold Dairy Queen Blizzard will now have to travel to Modesto.
Turlock's only Dairy Queen, located on Main Street in the Turlock Cinema Center, closed its doors Monday. Owner/ Franchisee David Erbe says the closure occurred “because we could not come to an agreement with the Dairy Queen organization or the landlord.”
Patrons of the local Dairy Queen showed up to locked doors with a sign that reads, "Thank you Turlock for the 21 years! Dairy Queen is closed."
Erbe says that 18 people, including himself, lost their jobs. There are no plans to reopen the restaurant, he said.
According to Manta.com the location opened in 1992 and had revenues between $500,000 and $1 million.
