Only the first 250 qualified applicants will be considered for each job – a number that is easily reached, says City of Turlock Human Resources Manager Sara Eddy.

“We will easily get that many applicants. There’s a lot of people interested in that field of work,” Eddy said.

The Police Officer I/II position pays from $3,916 to $4,760 per month, plus benefits (I), or $4,534 to $5,510 per month (II).

Applicants must be 21 years of age, hold a high school diploma, and have 30 college units. The candidate must also be a graduate of a P.O.S.T.-certified academy, or currently enrolled in at the time of the application, with graduation expected before appointment.

Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain a Class C driver’s license and basic first-aid certification. Applicants must also pass physical endurance tests and extensive background checks.

Firefighter positions pay from $3,929 to $4,771 per month. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma, Class C Drivers License, California EMT certificate, a Firefighter I Certificate from the California State Fire Marshal, and a CPAT Card issued within 12 months of the application deadline.
