Wayne E. Chandler
December 1948 ~ November 2013

Wayne Chandler, 64 of Turlock, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, after a long battle with prostate cancer. One of seven siblings, he was born to Alvin and Dixie Chandler in Turlock and attended Turlock High School. Raised in their family home on Sousa Street, his first job was for Souza’s Furniture. Once he was old enough to drive, he took a job driving for Fontana’s and found his calling ‘where the rubber meets the road’, spending most of his life as a long haul truck driver traveling the U.S. highways. Often his son David went long for the ride, and they shared many road trips and memories along the highways of life.

Wayne is survived by his children Michael Chandler of Aberdeen, WA & David Chandler of Merced, CA; siblings Nelda & (Gilbert) Rothweiler of Santa Clara, CA, Bobby & (Dianne) Chandler of Grants Pass, OR, Stan Chandler, Patti & (Tom) Virgo, Debbie & (Roy) Huffman, all of Turlock, and Denise & (Joe) Yanez of Washington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Wayne’s quick wit and ornery since of humor are certainly going to be missed and will be carried from generation to generation. God called him home for the holidays; greeted at Heaven’s gates by both his parents Alvin and Dixie, whom proceeded in him in death. Now he’s driving that Peterbilt on Heaven’s highways.

Allen Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements. A private burial will be held at a later time. Viewing will be arranged later this week.
