Turlock's Bell Real Estate Cycling Team plans to grant local children's wishes this holiday season, donating bicycles for a Christmas surprise.

The team plans to raise $4,000 to provide 20 to 25 bikes and helmets to children ages 5 to 12. After a recent cupcake fundraiser and online donations, they only have $180 left to go.

“The team was formed to do more than just race,” said Rob Bell, Team Leader. “We are fortunate and have so much, giving back to the community is the least we can do.”

On Nov. 14, the team raised $1,664 to buy kids bikes by selling cupcakes donated by Frost Bakery and Cafe in Turlock. The cupcake sale is over, but interested persons can still go to the team website and make a donation. This fundraiser will run until the end of November.

Bikes and helmets will be purchased from the team’s bike sponsors, Cycle Masters and Oakdale Bike Shop. Purchased bikes will be distributed through the Salvation Army.

In addition, half of the proceeds will go to the Turlock Sunrise Rotary to help meet community needs for the rest of the year.

For more information, or to donate to the cause, call (209) 262-8567 or visit www.brecycling.com. For those not in a position to donate, the effort can be shared through Facebook at www.facebook.com/bellrealestatecycling.
