Bruce "Don" Reed
Sept 1928 ~ Nov 2013 »

Bruce (Don) Reed, 85, of Atwater, passed away at his home after a long battle with illness. Don was born in Wills Point, Texas to James Michael and Mary Reed. At age 7 the family moved to Oklahoma where Bruce attended school. He left school early in order to start working. He worked in custom wheat harvesting in Kansas and neighboring states. At age 17 they moved to Hughson California. In 1950 Don married the love of his life, Lois Brasher, at the Baptist Church in Hughson. Don worked for 38 years in the milk production industry and farmed on the side. He quit his main job when his father-in-law needed help in order to help the family. He helped others whenever and however he could until his health prevented him from doing more. Don loved outdoor sports like fishing and water-skiing. He also loved his family. Playing with the grandchildren was a favorite pastime.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings: James Reed, Harold Reed, Mary Jo Reed, and Billie Hampton; and by two children: Karen Stehle and Bruce D. Reed Jr. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Reed; children: Terry (Melony) Reed of Atwater and Richard Reed of Hughson; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren.
