A $10,000 donation from the Sierra Health Foundation will help Turlock's We Care Foundation to operate its annual cold weather homeless shelter.

“We are honored that Sierra Health has chosen to partner with us in providing shelter services for homeless men in our community,” said Barbara Olave, Interim Executive Director. “Helping the men to meet their core needs is often the first step in their transition to leading healthier lives and reaching their full potential”.

The We Care Shelter houses up to 49 homeless men each night during the chilly winter, operating from November 15 through April 15.

The additional funding from Sierra Health will allow We Care to continue providing warm beds and nutritious meals, as well as counseling services, access to a computer lab, life skills training, recovery classes, health and wellness seminars, bus passes, and referrals to housing programs.

“Thank you Sierra Health for your commitment to building and maintaining healthier communities,” Olave said.
