Turlock Mayor John Lazar will compete for bragging rights Saturday against the mayors of Modesto, Ceres and Patterson to see who can raise the most money as a Salvation Army bell ringer.

The mayors will be ringing their bells from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in front of Walmarts in their respective cities.

Lazar, who says he is looking forward to the challenge, will be at the Turlock Walmart, 2111 Fulkerth Rd., from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Other staff from the Turlock Salvation Army and the City of Turlock will ring for the reminder of the day.
