Prepare for a classical Christmas tradition – the Backstage Academy of Dance is bringing “The Nutcracker” ballet to life at the Turlock Community Theatre.

The first show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while two shows play at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"I am really excited for this year’s production,” said Kristi Garcia, Director at the Backstage Academy of Dance. “I have a very young, talented cast who have really stepped up and brought a vibrant burst of energy to this performance."

The performance promises to be a kid-friendly event that family members of all ages can enjoy. For those interested, a Sugar Plum party is scheduled to follow each performance. Audience members are welcomed to take pictures with cast members.

Tickets are available for purchase at either Encore Dance Apparel or Backstage Academy of Dance in Turlock, or The Dance Bag in Modesto.

The performance is free for children age 3 and under. Ticket prices start at $12.00 for children or students with an ID. Adult tickets are $20.00. Discounted group rates are available for parties with ten or more patrons going to the same showing. No credit or debit cards will be accepted at the door.

"For some families, attending our 'Nutcracker' is an annual tradition,” said Garcia. “For others, it’s a start of a new tradition. I love the family unity this production brings to the stage throughout the holidays.”
