Christopher Mckenzie, 34, was arrested for auto theft last Tuesday at the intersection of Tully Road and West Main Street in Turlock, the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force announced. He was also arrested for possession of a concealed firearm.
The Task Force, known as StanCATT, is a proactive auto theft investigative unit consisting of undercover detectives from the California Highway Patrol, Modesto, Ceres and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
StanCATT was formed the summer of 1996 after local law enforcement agencies met to address the rise of auto theft in Stanislaus County. The task force investigates auto thefts throughout Stanislaus County.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Modesto metropolitan was ranked number one in the nation for auto thefts in 2012.
