Richard Dean Thayer
August 1928 ~ December 2013»

Richard Thayer, 85, passed away at his Denair home. Richard was born in Nebraska to William and Alice Thayer. He graduated from high school in Nebraska and served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was crew chief on a C57 cargo plane. He married the love of his life, Lila Jean Haggstrom, in 1956. Richard and his family owned and operated Thayer Trucking Co. in Ontario California for many years. He completed 60 years of driving large trucks in 2006. He loved his family and enjoyed his dogs. He was a loyal Nebraska football fan. He also enjoyed driving his motorcycle and his trucks.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter Terri Koenig. He is survived by his wife Lila Thayer of Denair; two sons: Richard A. Thayer of Ontario CA and Gregory D. (Michele) Thayer of Star ID; siblings: William Thayer and Billie Sanden, both of Nebraska, and Carl Thayer of Portland OR; five grandchildren: Mindy Koenig, Amanda Thayer, Ashlea Thayer, Morgan Thayer, and Cheyenne Thayer; and a great, grandson Colton Thayer. Richard was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Monday, Dec. 30th at 10 am. Military honors and inurnment will follow. Burial will be at North Hilmar Cemetery.
