The Turlock Unified School District will hold a free parenting class titled “Understanding the World of Speech and Language Communication.”

The class will cover topics such as understanding the difference between speech and language, strategies for helping a child with developmentally appropriate speech sounds and strategies for expanding a child’s language skills.

An ASHA Certified, California State Licensed Speech Language Pathologist will present the class.

A morning class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jan. 23 in room 102 at the TUSD Office, 1574 E. Canal Dr. An evening session will also be held, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in rooms WW5 and WW7 at the same location.

Free child care will be provided for the evening session only. Snacks will be provided at both sessions. A Spanish interpreter can be provided upon request.

TUSD asks attendees to RSVP to the Special Education Office at 209-667-8519 noting which session they will be attending and if an interpreter will be needed.
