A large swath of southwest Turlock is without electricity tonight after a vehicle hit a power pole, knocking down electrical lines.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue vehicle of unknown make and model struck a power pole at the intersection of Bradbury and Washington roads at approximately 6:35 p.m. The accident knocked the pole down, causing it to lean across the roadway. Power lines were also hanging over the road, the CHP said.

Some witnesses on site also reported seeing transformers blow following the accident.

The Turlock Irrigation District says power is currently out in the areas of Walnut, Harding, Tegner, Washington, and Bradbury roads. The electricity is likely to be out until at least 1 a.m., TID said.

Let all the criminals know where there is no electricity, that’s awesome, The people with out it already know. Why inform the entire community, including the bad elements?!

I agree I feel that it is not a good idea to let the people know that may take advantage! The people that need to know will know sooner or later! Also I think that it is inappropriate for the writer to go to the outage scene it may be more helpful if they just gave the outage website for the people to go to.
