Alquist Arms Gun Store to Open New, Larger Store

Turlock’s most popular family-owned and operated gun store, Alquist Arms, has announced it will open a new, 5,000 square-foot store at 1400 Frietas Park, Turlock.

Bobby Alquist, son of owners Richard and Mary Alquist, says the new location will likely open in the coming weeks. A grand opening celebration is scheduled to be held in the first week of April to mark the family business’s 20-year anniversary, as well as the new store.

“We are very excited to open the store, we will have raffles with $7,000 to $10,000 worth of prizes and free guns,” he said.

Gun manufacturer representatives and booths will also be set up for the grand opening.

In addition to the retail floor, the new location will include a gun range. The range is still under construction, and will not open until near the end of the year.

The Alquists plans to keep the old store, located at 120 S. Center St. in Downtown Turlock, open for several more months. The store will then close to later reopen as a different kind of store. Plans for the store are undetermined at this time.

Alquist Arms customers seem equally excited for the new store. On the store’s Facebook Page customer Matthew Ens posted, “This is going to be awesome. Hoping for a grand opening with tons of giveaways and discounts on popular guns. Alquist Arms always delivers.”

One customer, Ryan Bruce, offered an interesting trade possibility via Facebook. “Our baby is due the first week of April. If it’s born on the grand opening and I name it Alquist can I get a free Glock 19?”

TurlockCityNews.com will provide an update when the official date of the grand opening is announced.

Wish something more useful would open in Turlock… With the world losing their minds lately is another gun store necessary?

  3. Ryan Bruce says:

Heck yeah! We need more gun stores that sell bigger guns! We need to defend ourselves against the anti-christ and aliens.
