Around Turlock – February 20

The City of Turlock looks a little bit different from several hundred feet in the air.

This aerial photo of the neighborhood near the intersection of Hawkeye and Berkeley avenues was taken by a local Turlocker using a drone. If you look closely, you can see the drone’s rotor blades at the top corners of the image.

Similar drones could soon become a common sight in Turlock, should the online retailer Amazon’s “Prime Air” program come to fruition. That program would use quadcopter drones to deliver packages ordered online within 30 minutes. As Amazon operates a distribution center in Patterson, Turlock could be a test bed for the new technology, which is still in development.
