Turlock police officers seized more than 900 marijuana plants and an illegal assault weapon from a Turlock home Tuesday morning, and are currently looking for a person of interest.
The bust came as the Turlock Narcotics Enforcement Team served a search warrant to a home in the 300 block of Linwood Drive as part of an ongoing investigation.
Investigators found evidence of electricity theft and a large scale marijuana growing operation inside the home.
No arrests were made during the service of the search warrant, but Robert Chavez, 27, of Turlock has been identified by investigators as a person of interest in this case.
More than 900 marijuana plants, yielding the potential to grow more than 250 pounds of marijuana, were seized. The street value of the plants is estimated to be about $200,000.
An illegal assault weapon was also seized.
Police were seen coming in and out of the house during service of the warrant Tuesday morning, some wearing surgical masks. Turlock Irrigation District employees were also seen coming in and out of the house.
Anyone with knowledge of Chavez’s whereabouts are asked to call the Turlock Police Drug Hotline at 209-668-5550 ext. 6117.
