A new sushi restaurant will soon be joining Turlock’s restaurant scene, as co-owners Bowei Tan of Turlock’s China Cafe and Mindy Hu of Sacramento’s Kobe Sushi push to finish the project.

The restaurant was set to open sometime last July, but setbacks in the project created a “major delay” according to Tan. Construction has been in the works for over a year, as the landlord of the building also functions as the contractor.

Now, with booths hugging bright green walls and a finished counter for the sushi bar, Fuji Sushi is looking close to its grand opening.

Hu and Tan, who lives in Turlock, plan to serve all types of Japanese cuisine – not just sushi.

Tan said that the restaurant, located in the shopping center on Monte Vista Avenue just east of Golden State boulevard, near Brenda Athletic Club, is still looking to hire. Tan said the owners are in need of both wait staff and cooks.

Those who are interested in employment at the restaurant may call 209-277-2074.
