Shooting Locks Down Elementary School

A Turlock elementary school was briefly put on lockdown Thursday due to a shooting in the area.

Cunningham Elementary School went on lockdown at 11:25 a.m., after shots were heard in the area between the 300 block of West Linwood Avenue and Montana Avenue.

The lockdown was initiated at the direction of the school’s administration. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 12:05 p.m.

It is unknown at this time who was involved in the shooting, and no parties involved in the shooting were located, said Turlock Police Department spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Lewis confirmed that a shooting took place due to evidence found in the area.

There are no known victims at this time.
