Starbucks may not be the only place in Turlock to grab a cup of coffee, come this summer.
The owners of La Mo in Turlock recently received permits from the City of Turlock to begin demolition on a space that will be known as Café La Mo.
Café La Mo will be a coffee shop that serves coffee, espresso, smoothies and will have some food options, said co-owner Hillary Smith.
The space that will become Café La Mo is located at 310 E. Main St., in the Shopper’s Eden space that that faces Main Street – just in front of the existing La Mo.
La Mo, known for using local ingredients and produce in the restaurant, will exclusively use locally roasted Clayton Coffee beans in the coffee shop, said Smith. Clayton Coffee is based out of Modesto.
Demolition has already begun on the space, but construction is on hold until La Mo receives construction permits from the city.
Because construction is on hold, there is no timetable for when Café La Mo is expected to open, Smith said. Owners are hopeful it will open this summer.
Smith added that the new space will also open provide an additional prep kitchen for the restaurant.
