A suspect allegedly stole a U.S. Postal Service mail truck after causing disturbance at a Turlock apartment complex Tuesday morning.
According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, around 11:20 a.m. Turlock police received a report of a subject creating a disturbance and trying to kick in doors at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Spruce Street.
While police were enroute to the 500 block of Spruce Street, they received report of a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier in the area whose mail truck had been stolen in the 600 block of Vermont Avenue.
Upon arriving to the area, the mail carrier flagged down the officers and told them the direction the suspect had traveled.
Officers were able to locate the truck and stopped the vehicle on Linwood Avenue near Ninth Street.
In course of the investigation, officers found that the suspect had allegedly pushed the mail carrier and took his keys and mail truck.
Thomas Rodrigues, 30, was arrested for carjacking, DUI, and an outstanding felony warrant for failing to appear on a local stalking case, said Lewis.
Rodrigues was booked into Stanislaus County Jail without further incident.
