The Turlock Unified School District will recognize 17 retiring teachers, administrators, and staff during a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 6, at the TUSD Professional Development Center, 100 Cahill Ave.
Closed session convene at 6 p.m. to discuss labor negotiations with the Turlock Teachers Association and various other bargaining units.
The public meeting will kick off with an inspirational message and flag salute from Roselawn High School students James Wernert and Jonathan Miller, this month’s Character Counts Students of the Month for the character trait of caring.
Next the board will recognize and honor the 17 teacher, administrators, staff and district office personnel who will be retiring at the end of the school year. The total collective experience of all the educators and staff is 434 years.
The board will also honor Pitman High’s Hayley Rovito and Turlock High’s Violeta Robledo for their roles as Student Representatives to the Board of Trustees.
At 7:52 p.m. there will be a period for public discussion, followed by the consent calendar at 8:02 p.m.
The board will vote to approve a total of $51,000 in donated items from various businesses including $30,000 from Masellis Drilling for well drilling and development, a $9,000 donation to the Turlock High School Navy JROTC program from Paradise Valley Spas for desk and cubicle furniture.
Also on the consent agenda, the board is expected to approve an allocation of surplus funds in the amount of $400,000 for student academic and behavioral intervention programs and $250,000 for major facility repairs.
Next, at 8:04 p.m., the board will hear recommendations for principal hiring at Earl Elementary, Brown Elementary and Assistant Principal at Crowell Elementary, as well as the position of Assistant Superintendent of Financial Services.
Lastly the board will hear information regarding initial proposals from bargaining units and award the bid for the Cunningham Elementary Irrigation Project.
