The Stanislaus County Library is hosting three contests for kids who want to get creative this summer.

The Stanislaus County Library is looking for creative, young artists to submit original artwork that focuses on the theme of reading, libraries, or books with a chance for the art to be turned into a bookmark.

There are three age categories (0-4, 5-8, 9-12), and one artist’s work from each category will be selected.

Library Looking for Community Novel Artwork

Artists across the county are encouraged to submit original artwork for a chance to have the artwork showcased on the cover of the community novel.

All artwork much fit within the dimensions of the book cover, 8 ½ inches by 5 ½ inches.

For inspiration, artists can visit www.stanislauslibrary.org to read the current posted chapters of Ashes in a Teardrop. A new chapter is posted each Tuesday.

The deadline to submit artwork is June 30.

Entry forms and contest regulations are available at your local library branch as well as online at www.stanislauslibrary.org.

Tweens Invited to Build Robot Statues for Library

The Stanislaus County Library is inviting tweens ages 9 to 12 to build robot statues to help promote the Stanislaus County Library.

The Stanislaus County Library is encouraging contestants to build the robot statues out of recycled materials.

Creative use of materials is encouraged, but contestants are asked to not submit robots made out of organic materials that could rot, hazardous materials, or anything with sharp edges.

The robots are not required to be functional or have moveable parts.

All artists who submit a statue will be entered into a drawing for a prize. The contest runs from May 24 to June 30.

For more information, please visit your local library branch or call the library’s Children and Teens Department at 209-558-7810.
