The City of Turlock and Turlock Police Department are moving forward with their plan to hire multiple police officer trainees to fill vacant positions in the department.

Turlock Police Department has lost five officers to different agencies in just over a year, and Turlock City Council voted April 8 to move forward with trainee hires that will be put through the police academy.

May 6 was the application deadline, and it appears that potential trainees are now going through the interview process.

Turlock City Councilmember Forrest White said at Tuesday’s council meeting that the City could be hiring six trainees this summer.
