Some Turlock business owners are showing their support for the FIFA World Cup by offering their customers room to view the games in a relaxing, fun environment.
Turlock Poker Room will be showing some of the games daily, and next door Rico’s Pizza owner Jesse Aguilar is offering special deals on pizzas and appetizers as he will also have his TVs turned to the games for the FIFA World Cup.
Turlock Poker Room is offering “cool AC and all the hot action of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.” Guests can choose to play a variety of games as they watch, including: Blackjack, Fortune Paigow Poker, Omaha, Pan, Texas Hold ‘Em, Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em, Three Card Poker, Pure Spanish 21.5, and Mexican Poker.
Next door, Aguilar shared that a lot of Rico’s customers have shown interest in watching the World Cup at Rico’s by calling in to make sure the games will be on.
Although it is his first time owning a restaurant in Turlock during the World Cup, Aguilar’s experiences at his Rico’s location in Ceres have taught him that the Central Valley holds a deep passion for soccer. But for the youngsters not as interested in watching the World Cup, there are also games to play in the restaurant. For those looking for food options beyond pizza, Rico’s also offers hamburgers, fries, and wings.
If there is enough interest expressed, Aguilar explained, he would definitely consider opening up early for the 9 a.m. games, two hours earlier than the restaurant’s normal opening time at 11 a.m.
Mexico, Portugal, and the U.S. teams seem to be of the most interest to locals in Aguilar’s experience, so he is expecting heightened excitement for games involving those teams. The FIFA World Cup began June 12, and runs through July 13.
