The Dustin Babb Blood Drive Wednesday at Delta Blood Bank in Turlock was a huge success. From the beginning of the event, all the way to the end, there were nonstop donors. Due to the overwhelming success of the drive, it has been extended to the following days: Thursday, July 10 and Saturday, July 12.
“We had a turnout of twice the amount of donors we expected,” said Erica Ingram, a friend of Babb’s family and coordinator of the drive. “Several were rescheduled to come back tomorrow [Thursday] and Saturday.”
Those looking to donate on either Thursday or Saturday must specify that they are donating for Babb so that he receives the credit for it. Delta Blood Bank in Turlock will be open 12:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
According to Ingram, everyone was gracious about the wait times. She also mentioned that the staff did a great job, even though it was much busier than they thought.
“When they opened the doors there were about six to eight people already waiting,” Ingram said. “A big thank you to all who came by.”
Ingram said they’ll be organizing another drive mid-September and asked donors to stay tuned.
The Turlock Center Delta Blood Bank is located at 655 E. Hawkeye Ave. Scheduled appointments are recommended in order to expedite a donation, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call or text Erica Ingram at 209-678-6905.
