Turlock’s Carnegie Arts Center is providing a free, Family Friday Sock Hop July 18 for families to come and “dance their socks off.”
If your dancing skills don’t quite date back to the age of hot rods and drive-in movies though, no fear, the Carnegie’s Facebook page promises you can learn right at the sock hop! Music will include selections from “Rock and Roll oldies.”
Run by the non-profit, private Carnegie Arts Center Foundation, the Carnegie Arts Center’s programs include exhibitions, education classes and programs, lectures, and activities in artistic genres from music to theatre and more. With each exhibit, the center focuses on a theme for the duration of the art on view. Currently the exhibit on view, The Carnegie Rocks!, is showcasing local business owner and philanthropist Matt Swanson’s rock and roll memorabilia collection. The exhibit is part of a larger series entitled “In Praise of Collecting.”
Admission is free for the Sock Hop July 18. The dance begins at 7 p.m.
