The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim in Saturday’s train accident that killed a Turlock bicyclist.
The victim has been identified as David Sanchez, 39, of Turlock.
Sanchez was hit and killed by a train on Saturday morning at the Fulkerth Road and Golden State Boulevard railroad crossing.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by Sanchez's family, he leaves behind three children.
Sanchez's family has said they are having trouble coming up with funds necessary to lay Sanchez to rest, and are asking the public for donations. You can donate to the David Sanchez Memorial Fund here.
The Turlock Police Department said Sanchez was traveling westbound on Fulkerth Road in the eastbound lanes on his bicycle when he was involved in the fatal accident. Witnesses said the railroad guards were down when Sanchez attempted to cross the tracks.
Sanchez was declared deceased by emergency crews at the scene.
