An escaped murderer was spotted in Turlock near the area of Monte Vista Avenue and Golden State Boulevard shortly after midnight, and police are on the hunt.
Authorities are searching for Jeffery Scott Landers, 34, who was convicted of stabbing a man to death in the Riverside area, according to reports from Central Valley TV.
He is described as a 34-year-old male, standing approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a medium build and an eagle tattoo on his chest.
Landers was being transported from Wasco State Prison to the Stockton area when he was able to escape from members of the Department of Corrections at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, according to Central Valley TV. He allegedly escaped in the Livingston area, but was spotted in Turlock around midnight.
Authorities have reported that Landers is highly dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him is urged to call 911 immediately.
