Sweet River in Turlock Closes Permanently

Sweet River Grill and Bar, previously located at 2600 Geer Rd., closed this week, but will make way to a new restaurant.

The restaurant closed its doors for good on Tuesday after deciding to not renew the lease for the building.

Sweet River opened in the location on the corner of the Geer Road and Minnesota Avenue several years ago. Before Sweet River moved into the location, it housed other restaurants, including Golden Corral.

Filling the vacant space will be a new restaurant called “Table 26,” according to signs posted on the building, however little detail about the new restaurant is available at this time.

When TurlockCityNews.com called the former-Sweet River location, there was no answer — the phone just kept ringing.

Although Sweet River recently closed, the announcement was not news to the employees. According to a former employee, staff was told a few months before the impending closure, and given the exact date it would close.

About time this restaurant has steadily gone down hill in food and service for years. Every time I tried to give it another chance it would be worse than the time before. I say good riddance!
