The Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees named Coni Chavez as the Interim District Director of Public Affairs.
The position was vacated by Nick Stavrianoudakis, who was recently named the Interim Athletic Director at Modesto Junior College.
Chavez comes to the position with a great deal of public affairs, media, legislative, and community relations experience. Most recently, Chavez served in this role at Columbia College as part of the College President’s Office and has been a member of YCCD for more than 13 years.
“We are pleased to have Ms. Chavez serve the YCCD, its colleges, and communities in this new role,” said Chancellor Dr. Joan Smith.
The Office of Public Affairs is an external relations and public affairs unit of the YCCD Chancellor’s Office that’s goal is to enhance communication and relationships of the YCCD with the campus community, media, government, general community, and other higher education institutions.
“Our success lies in our ability to effectively communicate awareness and understanding of District accomplishments, objectives and decisions and I am thrilled to be the spokesperson for the YCCD,” said Chavez.
