The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley CAN are partnering to provide Valley residents free smog tests on Saturday.
Smog tests will be done in the north parking lot of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds, located at 900 N. Broadway in Turlock.
For vehicles that do not pass the emissions test but can be repaired, the driver will receive a free voucher for repairs. Only the first 525 vehicles that qualify following the free smog test will receive the voucher for $500 in repairs at a participating STAR smog shop.
Testing will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but gates are subject to earlier closure should the maximum number of vehicles be serviced.
Only emissions testing will be done, no smog certificates will be issued at the event.
With hundreds of vehicles expected, drivers should expect a two-hour wait or more.
