A man was hit and killed by a train early Saturday morning in what the Turlock Police Department is calling a suicide.

Turlock police received the call of the incident at approximately 4:36 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Cpl. Ramon Godoy, the victim reportedly sat on the tracks approximately 50 yards south of the railroad crossing at Golden State Boulevard and Tuolumne Road.

The victim has been pronounced deceased and the death is being considered a suicide at this time.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is now handling the case to make the final determination on the suicide.

According to Godoy, the victim has not been identified.

TurlockCityNews.com will provide updates as soon as information become available.

This is the second death by train in less than one week, as a bicyclist was fatally hit while crossing the tracks at Marshall Street near S. First Street.

There was also a fatal train accident on July 19, when a man attempted to cross the tracks on his bicycle when the railroad crossing arms were down at Golden State Boulevard and Fulkerth Road.
