The City of Turlock is currently accepting applications for Animal Services Officer, an entry-level position that includes a salary between $3,451 to $4,196 per month depending on experience.
An Animal Services Officer is responsible for the day-to-day field services and operation of the Turlock Animal Shelter, responding to complaints, completing related forms and reports, disposing of impounded animals as appropriate, conducting investigations of state and local animal care violations.
Superb interpersonal communication skills are necessary as the work involves considerable personal contact with the general public.
Also, the Animal Services Officer will be responsible for investigating all animal bites, quarantining animals as needed and coordinating the daily activity of the city license enforcement program.
The person selected for the position will serve an 18-month probationary period.
Candidates must have a combination of experience and training that is likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities needed for the job including the equivalent to completion of 15 semester units of college course work in animal science, business administration, criminal justice or a related field.
Experience includes two years handling animals in an animal shelter or vet clinic, working with the public and heavy community involvement.
