Turlock Unified School District said goodbye to beloved, longtime maintenance worker Vernon Storment, who retired after 26 years with the district.

Storment started at TUSD in March of 1988 when he served as a custodian at Turlock High School for three years. He then worked as a THS groundskeeper for 13 years before moving on to the maintenance department for the past 10 years.

His co-workers described him as fun-loving and he was known for his tremendous work ethic, leadership, willingness to teach others and his wonderful sense of humor.

Storment and his wife Donna will be moving to Greeley Hill and he will spend much more time fishing.

I would like to say Happy Retirement Vern! In the 27 years I’ve been here, I have known Vernon to be nothing but kind and helpful in every aspect of his job. I will miss his great humor and kind conversations whenever I saw him. He was always laughing or joking around with us. I hope you have a great retirement and wish you well in your relaxing future!!!
